Former Manchester United Goalkeeper, Tim Howard has become a part owner of an MLS franchise, thereby following the footsteps of David Beckham.
The ex-United shot-stopper, who played for the club from 2003–2007 has become a minority stakeholder in the consortium that controls the MLS side Houston Dynamos and the women’s franchise Houston Dash.
According to talkSPORT, Tuesday saw the former United States international announced in a statement by Ted Segal, chairman and main owner.
The statement reads: “His wealth of experience across soccer, both as a player at the highest levels and subsequently as a sporting director and media analyst, will be invaluable within ownership as we continue to build a competitive and successful organisation.
“Moreover, Tim’s commitment to using his unique platform to positively impact communities in need aligns with the values of our organization.”
Howard has previously dabbled in football ownership. In 2018, he was a member of the group that owned Memphis 901 FC in the United Soccer League.
He even made six appearances in 2020 while playing for his own team, which is currently a Division II level in the USL Championship run by the MLS.
From 2002 till 2017, the former goalkeeper made 121 appearances for the US national team during his playing career.

His incredible performance against Belgium in the 2014 World Cup broke the record for most saves in a World Cup match with 15 earning him the endearing nickname “the Secretary of Defense.”
Perhaps Howard’s most memorable memories are from his time at Everton as well as with the Red Devils.
