Erik Ten Hag Says He Would Leave Man United If The Club Found Someone Better Than Him

Erik ten Hag claims that if Manchester United’s upper management determined they had discovered someone better than him, he would “leave Manchester United tomorrow.”

The Dutchman led the team to its worst-ever Premier League season and after an end-of-season evaluation by Ineos and part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe of United, many predicted that he would be fired.

But Ten Hag ended the campaign on a high note, defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final and more importantly, keeping the backing of most United supporters.

Since then, Ineos has extended the 54-year-old’s contract until the 2026 summer, reports Mirror

Even though Ten Hag is still in the position, several issues have been raised in the weeks before Ineos decided to continue working with him. Some of these questions were posed to him in an interview with Dutch source AD.

Ten Hag played down the significance of rumors about his involvement in the events leading up to the FA Cup final, saying of his emotions, “I wanted to win.” I’ll depart if the United management finds someone tomorrow that they believe is better. It really is that easy.

“In football, you have to respect those procedures. It’s very evident at this club—as well as at Bayern Munich and Ajax—that you have a problem if you don’t win.
