Man United In Talks To Sign Key Figure Once On Arsenal Books

Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign a new set-piece coach as the club continue to overhaul their coaching department.

Upon taking over football operations at United earlier this year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos firm quickly began a radical reorganization of the team’s backroom staff.

After a lengthy legal battle over a settlement involving a compensation agreement with Newcastle, Dan Ashworth was named the Red Devils’ sporting director.

Omar Berrada, a former CEO of Manchester City, was appointed to the position of club’s CEO. Berrada is recognized for having facilitated the club’s recent acquisition of Leny Yoro from Lille.

Jason Wilcox, who joined from Southampton, is now the technical director. A report from Sweden states that he has already begun the process of bringing a former teammate to United to be a member of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff.

According to Sportbladet as cited by Daily Mail, United are in talks to hire Andreas Georgson as a set piece coach at Old Trafford.

Currently managing Lillestrom, a top-tier Norwegian team, Georgson has worked with Wilcox as a coach at Southampton. He has also worked with Brentford and Arsenal in the past.

With only nine of their 59 goals coming from set pieces, United finished eighth in their worst-ever Premier League season last year, ranking 15th for set-piece goals.

Nevertheless, Ten Hag once again guided his team to victory in a domestic cup, as their FA Cup victory over City made sure they would not miss out on European participation, despite their miserable league finish.

United will start their preseason tour in the United States, where they will play three friendly matches against Real Betis, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
