The Serie A team is eager to sign the Belgian striker, who has had a tumultuous experience at Chelsea since his £97.5 million transfer in 2021. According to The Guardian, “Napoli are open to including Romelu Lukaku in discussions with Chelsea over Victor Osimhen”, indicating a potential swap move that could change both clubs’ destinies.

Lukaku’s Return To Cobham

Lukaku is poised to return to Chelsea’s Cobham training facility after spending two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and AS Roma. He will be among a limited group of players, including Trevoh Chalobah, who have not been to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour. Chalobah, who captained Chelsea’s development team against Boreham Wood, “has been made available for transfer” after being left out of the tour squad, which also suffered a 4-1 loss against Celtic in Indiana.

Lukaku’s contract with Chelsea has two years left, but his future appears questionable. According to the Guardian, Chelsea are demanding a sum of roughly £30 million for the striker, since Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has set a high release clause of around €130 million (£110 million) for Osimhen. The Nigerian forward has been training separately from the rest of the squad and has yet to play in any pre-season games, sparking concerns about his future with the club.

Chelsea is also close to signing Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal, with the two clubs agreeing on a €24 million (£20.2 million) fee for the 22-year-old goalkeeper. His arrival could cause problems for back-up goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. The Blues are also poised to sign 19-year-old defender Aaron Anselmino, who will be loaned back to Boca Juniors after signing a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
