Arsenal ‘Closely Monitoring’ Bayern Star

Arsenal are reportedly keen on Bayern Munich winger, Leroy Sane and could sanction a move for the German this summer transfer window.

With just one year remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena and no existing extension in place, the 28-year-old might be approached by the Gunners with a summer transfer proposal.

According to Sky Sport Germany as reported by 90min, Sane may return to the Premier League as Arsenal are ‘very closely’ observing the winger.

Sane would rejoin Gunners manager Mikel Arteta if he moved to the Emirates Stadium. During the German’s stint at the Etihad Stadium, the Spaniard was a key member of City’s backroom staff and served as assistant manager to Pep Guardiola for three years.

During this period, he won an FA Cup, two Premier League titles, and two League cups.

Sane made the following statement prior to Bayern’s Champions League matchup against Arsenal in April, when he scored a crucial goal that helped them win.

“Thanks to [Arteta] and his ideas, I improved quickly. I still have them in my head and try to implement the ideas in my game.”

The source also states that Sane is currently more likely to negotiate a contract extension with Bayern than to depart for Arsenal.
