Harvey Elliott’s starring role in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal in Philadelphia, according to Arne Slot, bodes well for his future. Elliott, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder, impressed in the first half against Arsenal, providing assists for Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho.
With Slot seems to be turning towards a system that accommodates a ‘No.10’, Elliott could be poised for a new role under his new head coach, having previously played on the right side of midfield and in the front three in the absence of Mohamed Salah.

Slot was pleased with the England U21 star’s outing at Lincoln Financial Field but believes the youngster can still deliver more.
“Two great assists but what I believe is that the team created this for him as well,” Slot told ESPN. “Playing out of the back, getting him into the correct areas or another No.10, and then it’s up to him to make the most of those opportunities, which he did tonight with two assists.
Slot added: “I would have wanted to have preserved the same manner as the first half, and while the youth performed admirably, we had to remove a number of players who had played a lot of minutes for us.
“A lot of young players did great defensively, but we couldn’t keep pressing them as hard as we did in the first half. That worked for Arsenal on both sides; they positioned themselves differently, and our young players performed admirably, but we had to replace many of our starters.”
