Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah Granted A Transfer Lifeline After Marseille Talks Collapsed

Eddie Nketiah could stay in the Premier League as Bournemouth consider a move for the Arsenal forward.

The Gunners were in talks with Marseille over a £25 million deal for the striker, but the Ligue 1 club has shifted their focus and is now likely to acquire Elye Wahi from Lens.

Bournemouth has now joined the party, looking to offer more firepower to the south coast. They just let last season’s best scorer Dominic Solanke depart for Tottenham, but they now have more than £60 million to play with as they look for his replacement.

The Cherries have yet to make an offer, but Crystal Palace is believed to have a long-term interest in the forward. Nketiah appears to have fallen out of favour with Mikel Arteta, who last gave him a competitive start versus Fulham in December.

The striker had been interested in a move to France until that opportunity closed, with the Englishman trailing Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order. In the last months of the season, Arteta also chose Kai Havertz as a false 9, limiting Nketiah’s playing time.

Despite this, the Spanish coach insists that individuals who remain in north London are more inclined to stay than go. He stated that “all of the players who are here have the best chance of staying with us.” That is why they are here.

The Spanish side has already lost one of their Euro 2024 champions, but they have kept Martin Zubimendi, who turned down Liverpool. As a result, Sociedad may be more inclined to part with Merino provided they obtain a fair price.
