Milan Agree Deal With Monaco Over Fofana

Many weeks after the Rossoneri first showed interest, reports in France state that Milan and Monaco have finally come to an agreement over the signing of midfield player Youssouf Fofana.

Milan has agreed to pay Monaco €23 million plus €2 million in incentives. This is a little adjustment from Monaco’s previous offer of €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

It is anticipated that the France international will sign a four-year deal at San Siro that will expire in the summer of 2028.

Fofana may even reach Italy before this weekend’s Serie A season begins, reports Football Italia

Milan and Monaco ultimately reach a Fofana agreement.

Milan had been trying for a long time to get a contract with the Ligue 1 team for Fofana, but they ran into trouble when many European teams expressed interest in signing him.

Since Fofana’s contract with Monaco is coming to an end, they would prefer to let him go this summer rather than take the chance of losing him to free agency the following year.

The largest problem for the Rossoneri has come from Manchester United.  At various points throughout the window, Atletico Madrid and West Ham also made offers.

Milan was optimistic that they might make a deal for about €20 million, but when it looked like there may be a bidding battle, Monaco raised their asking price to almost €35 million.

It didn’t work out that way and a few weeks later, it appears that the clubs came to an amicable agreement.
