Liverpool’s Arne Slot era began on Saturday with a win over Ipswich Town, but progress in the transfer market has been slow.
The Dutchman came at Anfield earlier this summer without having to conduct major surgery on the team that Jurgen Klopp led to third place last season, but Liverpool is the only Premier League team that did not make a signing during the summer transfer window.
Liverpool saw Martin Zubimendi chose to remain at Real Sociedad and also missed out on a deal for Anthony Gordon earlier this summer, while another target, Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, featured in Los Ches’ defeat to Barcelona at the weekend, indicating that there is stillwork to be done on that potential move.
Mamardashvili has been sought as a long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, and the Reds’ current move in the market appears to be in search of an eventual successor to another established first-team player.
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are interested in signing French left-back Adrien Truffert, who is a 22-year-old Rennes player and a potential successor for Andy Robertson.
Truffert shined during the Olympic football event, where hosts France earned a silver medal, and this has piqued the interest of Liverpool, as well as Premier League opponents Nottingham Forest, Wolves, and Manchester United.
