Arne Slot Issues A Warning To Caoimhin Kelleher After Rejecting Premier League Transfer

Arne Slot believes he wants Caoimhin Kelleher to stay at Liverpool after the club rejected Nottingham Forest’s bid for the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper.

Forest made a cash and player bid for Kelleher, 25, who has two years remaining on his Anfield contract. Reported By Mirror

Liverpool rejected the bid from Forest, as they did in January, with Forest reportedly falling far short of the Reds’ £35 million estimate for the midfielder.

Slot claims they are considering in both the short and long term by keeping him and adding Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is still on loan at Valencia for the season.

“Maybe [he has to think of himself], but we have to make decisions as well,” said the Liverpool head coach.

“It’s not only the player. If you work at a club like Liverpool, you need competition and you need a lot of good players.

“Like I said, Mamardashvili is someone for the long-term future of the club and I’m really, really happy with the goalkeepers we have at the moment.”

He went on to say, “Among them are Caoimhin and Ali. We’re in a strong position with goalkeepers, both now and in the future.

Liverpool has signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus for an initial £10 million, and Slot does not expect any more big-name signings.

“I’m not expecting anything, but it’s no different from all the days before,” he told me. “If we see an opportunity, we could act.”
