Liverpool Fan killed In Italy Before Champions League Match Against AC Milan

A Liverpool supporter was killed after being hit by a car in Italy prior of his team’s Champions League match at the San Siro.

Merseyside Police stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Philip from Liverpool was in Milan on Tuesday evening, along with thousands of other Liverpool fans, to see their Champions League encounter versus AC Milan at the San Siro.

The 51-year-old flew from Manchester to Bergamo late Monday night ahead of Tuesday’s match. Italian police are investigating the unfortunate occurrence, and they have notified Philip’s next of kin.

“Philip was a lifelong Liverpool supporter who had traveled to Italy to see tonight’s Champions League match versus AC Milan. Our Milan staff is collaborating with the local police and consulate, and we continue to assist other fans affected by this tragic tragedy.

“Everyone linked to the club sends their thoughts and prayers to Philip’s family, friends, and fellow supporters during this terribly sad time. “Rest in peace, Philip.”

According to Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Serra, Philip was accompanied by a father and son as he attempted to cross the road, headed for the adjacent NH Hotel, with the duo assisting local police investigations.

The tragic tragedy occurred less than 24 hours before Liverpool began their 2024/25 Champions League season under new manager Arne Slot. The players have been in Milan since Monday and went on their normal pre-match walk.

Liverpool won the match at San Siro 3-1,with goals from Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai.
