Barcelona May Bring Retired Goalkeeper Szczesny Back To Football To Replace Ter Stegen

Football Italia claim that in light of Marc-André ter Stegen’s terrible injury, Barcelona may try to get former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to come out of retirement.

After rupturing his right patellar tendon during Sunday’s 5-1 victory against Villarreal, the German goalkeeper is projected to miss eight to nine months of activity.

Although the Polish goalkeeper announced his retirement less than a month ago, Barcelona is presently considering Szczesny, an ex-Juventus goalie, as a potential successor.

A few weeks before announcing his retirement, Szczesny ended his contract with Juventus in August.

Despite the fact that Michele Di Gregorio’s arrival forced him out of Juventus a year before his contract was set to expire, he has stated that he would have retired in 2025.

The former goalie said, “After Juventus, I was not ready for other challenges, but I wanted to play for one more season because I felt I could still give so much.”

There are other candidates for Barcelona besides Szczesny; Keylor Navas and Tomas Vaclik are also being connected. Due to their lack of a club, both goalkeepers are still available, much as Szczesny.

Three-time Serie A champion Szczesny visited Turin to bid farewell to Bianconeri supporters prior to a league matchup with Napoli.
