Virgil van Dijk has reportedly admitted that Liverpool will not know for sure whether they are in contention to win the Premier League title until the end of the year.
Under new head coach Arne Slot, the Reds have had a fantastic start to the season. Following a 2-1 victory against Wolves over the weekend, Liverpool are currently atop the Premier League. The Dutchman has won five of his six league games in charge.
Following their thrilling title fight last season, Arsenal and Manchester City have dominated much of the conversation around the title. However, Liverpool are also in the mix if the first few weeks of the season provide any indication.
According to The Mirror,Van Dijk isn’t getting carried away despite their recent success, seeing December as a make-or-break month.
He said at the weekend: “We have a very good squad – a mixture of experience and talent – and players who are at a very good stage of their career.
“So it is good to see the way we are playing. Mo [Mohamed Salah] was many times in the box and heading balls away and stuff and that is the kind of commitment we need from everyone.
“So far, so good. But it is only one game and we all realise that. Now we focus on the Champions League.
