Manchester United Legend Blasts Matthijs De Ligt And The Club As ‘Uncoached’ Under Erik Ten Hag

Paul Scholes has criticized Matthijs de Ligt, the club’s recent signee and stated that Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United appears to be “uncoached.”

This summer, United acquired defender De Ligt from Bayern Munich for a reported £43 million. Other newcomers include Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, and Noussair Mazraoui.

But Scholes, a former midfielder for the Red Devils, doesn’t think De Ligt is better than Harry Maguire.

Scholes stated to SuperSport, “You expect players you bring in to be a lot better than who you already have.” “I don’t see any players that make a significant impact coming in,”

“Let’s suppose De Ligt has replaced Maguire, but there isn’t much of a change.

In response to the question of whether he thought the Holland international was a better player than Maguire, Scholes said, “No, absolutely not.”

On Sunday, Manchester United lost 3-0 to Tottenham at Old Trafford, their third straight game without a victory, reports Standard.

Additionally, Scholes has placed the blame squarely at the feet of manager Ten Hag ahead of a challenging week in which United travels to Porto and Aston Villa.

He went on, “You never know how they’re going to play.”

You can never be sure how they will play a game, how they will counterattack, how deep they will sit, or if they will try to dominate possession. We are clueless. They appear to be a football squad without a coach.

“Today’s players appeared lifeless, flat, and as if they didn’t know what to do. There is no passion for the game of football, and that can only be seen on the training field.
