Arne Slot became the first Liverpool manager to win eight of his first nine games when Mohamed Salah’s superb strike clinched a 2-0 Champions League victory over Bologna on Wednesday.
Slot has had a successful start to his rule since replacing Jurgen Klopp, and Liverpool’s second consecutive Champions League victory this season was another watershed moment for the Dutchman.
Alexis MacAllister gave Liverpool the lead in the first half at Anfield, and Salah scored his 49th Champions League goal in the dying minutes.
Six matches into the season, Liverpool is already at the top of the Premier League, thanks to the unassuming Slot, who has kept the club on track when Klopp’s golden reign ended. Reported by Sports ntv.
Even Klopp, Kenny Dalglish, Bill Shankly, and Bob Paisley struggled to win as many games at the start of their tenures as Reds managers.

“It’s not impossible to do anything unique at this club. It tells a lot about how we got started, how the players embraced it, and how much effort was put in,” Slot added.
“We’ve maintained many things the same, and the players were quite satisfied with previous regimes. It’s a good idea to start this way.
Liverpool started their European season with a 3-1 victory over AC Milan, and this was another confident display in Slot’s first taste of a Champions League evening at Anfield.
Slot’s solid start has the six-time European champions dreaming of another great Champions League season.
“It wasn’t an easy one; I believe Bologna made it difficult. “The last pass could have been better,” Slot acknowledged.
“Overall, a decent result, but I wouldn’t say I’m ‘delighted’.
Mac Allister makes point
“There are even more difficult fixtures coming up, starting on Saturday when we play a 12.30pm kick-off (at Crystal Palace) after a Wednesday evening Champions League game.”
Bologna, surprise Champions League qualifiers after a 60-year hiatus, pushed valiantly but fell short of pulling off a Cinderella upset.
Liverpool rapidly gained momentum, and by the 11th minute, they led.
Mac Allister expressed his delight this week at being afforded more latitude by Slot’s tactics than he did in Klopp’s more rigorous system.
And the Argentine emphasized the point by starting the move that resulted in Liverpool’s opening goal and finishing it with a superbly timed run into the Bologna area to meet Salah’s cross with a close-range shot.
Mac Allister’s aggressive midfield surge also acted as a reproach to his teammates after his low ‘pace’ rating in the new EA FC video game caused amusement at the club’s training camp.
