Salah Reveals Ex-Arsenal Star Showed He Could Be Liverpool Record-Breaker

Mohamed Salah has reportedly disclosed that Thierry Henry made him believe that wingers can be prolific goalscorers for their teams.

Growing up, Salah claims he was always amazed by Henry, the former French striker who went on to become Arsenal’s all-time top scorer with 228 goals.

According to The Mirror, Salah claimed Henry was never a traditional No 9, instead approaching the game from the left, and this gave him hope that he too might become a superb marksman.

The Egyptian sensation has been outstanding for Liverpool. His 217th goal for the club came from his signature left-foot curler after he cut in from the right.

Along with his five assists, he has scored six goals in just six games for Liverpool, demonstrating his continued prolificacy.

“In my opinion, it has changed a lot in the last few years and wingers are now scoring more goals,” he told the Liverpool matchday programme.

“It used to be usually the striker only who scored most of the goals, but now the wingers score a lot and it will always change the game.

“When I was growing up, I don’t know in that time that the wingers scored that much. I would say Thierry Henry was the one, but he was a kind of striker too, maybe going to the left a little bit more.

“I used to watch him a lot, but he was still a kind of striker who always tended to go to the left side.”
