Wojciech Szczesny Drops Shocking Reasons For Barcelona Move

Wojciech Szczesny, the new goalkeeper for Barcelona, recently discussed the decision to join the team and debunked certain rumors surrounding it.

In contrast to speculation, Szczesny disclosed that he did not consult Robert Lewandowski prior to consenting to join the Blaugrana as a provisional substitute for Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was injured.

The Polish goalie talked about his trip to Barcelona, his goals with the team, and his connection with Lewandowski.

Szczesny rejected the idea that Lewandowski was a major factor in his choice to sign with Barcelona. Szczesny acknowledged that he spoke with Lewandowski, but said that this was not the deciding factor.

He clarified that Lewandowski’s two years at Barcelona were the sole reasons he spoke with him.

His only goal was to understand the club’s and the city’s atmosphere, reports Barca Universal.

As soon as Barcelona coach Hansi Flick gave him a call, Szczesny was almost certain he would sign.

Flick called him, congratulating him on his choice and outlining his plans for the team’s performance. It was more of a formality.

In the meantime, Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, was the first to get in touch with Szczesny’s representatives in order to finalize the contract.

Deco then personally greeted Szczesny to the team when the terms were settled upon.
