Napoli sporting director, Mauro Meluso has reportedly indicated that Victor Osimhen is free to leave the club in January on a permanent basis.
The Nigeria international is currently on loan at Turkish outfit, Galatasaray after new Napoli manager, Antonio Conte made it clear that he is not in his plans for the season.
Osimhen expressed his desire to leave Napoli at the end of the previous campaign. During the summer, there was a lot of conjecture about the striker’s future, with links to Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League.
In an attempt to reach a deal for the 25-year-old, Chelsea even sent a delegation to Naples. However, the proposed transfer fell through before the deadline.
After joining Galatasaray on loan, Osimhen has already made a name for himself in Turkey, scoring two goals and dishing out two assists in his first three Super Lig games.
According to The Metro, Osimhen may, however, be moving again this winter. The 25-year-old is still “very interested” in and “considering” moving to Chelsea.
When Osimhen finalized his loan move to Galatasaray, his €130 million (£109m) release clause expired. When the January transfer window opens, the prolific attacker could be available for €81 million (£68m).
“He no longer wanted to be part of the first-team,” Napoli director Meluso said during the Palermo Football Conference this week.
