Mesut Ozil, former Real Madrid midfielder, recently made people chuckle with his witty reaction at a news conference in Azerbaijan.
As expected, one of the topics given to him was the age-old argument that has stirred global conversations: “Messi or Ronaldo?”.
Ozil’s response was both unexpected and amusing. Instead of deciding between Messi and Ronaldo, his response was straightforward: “Arda Guler”.
The unexpected response surprised the audience, who reacted with loud applause.

Two different fates
It is widely known that Ozil and Guler have mutual admiration for one another. However, their careers at Real Madrid have gone completely different directions.
Ozil had a good spell at the club, leaving with significant accolades to his name. Guler, on the other hand, is still in the early stages of his development with the team and has yet to really establish himself.
Guler has only played 291 minutes in 10 games this season, in competitions including the UEFA Super Cup, La Liga, and the Champions League.
This is much less than the minutes he has played for Turkey in the Nations League, prompting questions about his status in the squad and how he can get more playing time.
Despite these problems, Real Madrid remains optimistic about Guler’s future. However, it is unclear how manager Carlo Ancelotti intends to balance the youngster’s growth and playing time in a group stacked with senior players.
The future is uncertain, but one thing is certain: Guler will have to work hard to establish a more prominent role at the club.
