Barcelona Set To Battle Real Madrid For Davies

Barcelona are reportedly ready to compete with Real Madrid for the signature of Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies in the next summer transfer window.

According to Mundo Deportivo as claimed by Madrid Universal, Barca’s interest coincides with Madrid’s apparent lack of competition for the Canadian left-back, aside from Bayern.

Given that Davies’ current contract is slated to expire in 2025, Bayern are obviously eager to lock in his future.

For weeks, it was thought that los Blancos were the front-runners to acquire Davies, but Bayern wanted to retain him past 2025.

The contract talks between Davies and Bayern, however, appear to have stopped, according to recent sources, which has allowed other teams to swoop in.

Barcelona have stepped in at this point in an attempt to take advantage of the player’s uncertain future.

There have been a number of rumors regarding Davies’ circumstances in recent weeks. A five-year contract with Real Madrid, which would keep him with the Spanish team until 2030 with a one-year option, has even been said to have been agreed to by the player.

There has been no formal confirmation of these rumors, and Davies’ future is still unknown. It’s not impossible that he would yet be able to extend his contract with his current club, Bayern.

Davies will have the opportunity to sign a pre-contract with a foreign team as January draws near, giving him the freedom to negotiate without Bayern’s intervention.
