Man City ‘Seriously Considering Plan B’ Should Guardiola Decides To Leave

Manchester City are reportedly planning life without Pep Guardiola in case he decides to leave at the end of the season.

Reports surfaced at the start of the week that Guardiola had received an informal approach from the FA over the possibility of taking over as England manager in place of Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions reportedly searched for options because the Catalonian was unable to provide a definitive response regarding his future.

The FA formally announced Thomas Tuchel, a former manager of Chelsea and Bayern Munich, as Southgate’s successor on Wednesday. Beginning in January and lasting through the 2026 World Cup, the German has committed to an 18-month contract with the England national side.

Even Guardiola’s employers are unsure of his future at City, despite the fact that he will not be moving for the England position.

According to the Guardian as cited by Manchester Evening News, City’s owners don’t want to be taken off guard when Guardiola decides late that he intends to leave the club when his contract expires next summer.

Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim is close to the top of their list of potential successors. The 39-year-old has been successful in Lisbon, leading the team to two league crowns, two league cups, and a Super Cup. His contract expires in 2026.

Amorim has been considering a move to the Premier League for a while after acknowledging that he had a conversation with West Ham United before the conclusion of the previous campaign.

Although it was believed that Liverpool considered him to succeed Jurgen Klopp, they ultimately decided that Arne Slot was a better fit.
