Barcelona Maintains Contact With Alphonso Davies

Barcelona have reportedly approached Alphonso Davies,  23-year-old Bayern Munich full-back who has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United.

According to Spanish source SPORT, Barcelona has expressed interest in Alphonso Davies. The Catalan giants have made contact with representatives of the Bayern Munich full-back to learn about his financial needs. Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Manchester United are also interested in signing the 23-year-old.

Alphonso Davies’s career trajectory

Alphonso Davies is about to enter a new era in his glittering career. The youngster has grown from strength to strength since joining Bayern Munich from the Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. He arrived to the Allianz Arena as a potential winger, but he has since developed into a marauding fullback.

The 23-year-old has appeared over 200 times for Bayern Munich, scoring 11 goals and providing 32 assists. The Canadian international has been on Real Madrid’s radar for quite some time. Los Blancos considered signing the Bayern Munich full-back during the summer transfer window, but the move did not go ahead. Davies can be the long-term replacement for Ferland Mendy while initially featuring as an alternative to the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Alphonso Davies makes sense. Tyrell Malacia has been out for nearly 18 months, and Luke Shaw is dealing with ongoing fitness difficulties, so the Red Devils need another left-back. So, the Bayern Munich full-back has emerged as a potential Manchester United target.

Barcelona lacks an option to Alejandro Balde. It is not advisable to play the Spanish international over a long season. So, Davies is an alternative worth examining, with Barcelona contacting his representation to learn more about his financial requirements.

The 23-year-old Canadian international wants a €10 million signing bonus. Furthermore, he is likely to seek a large wage. So, it will be intriguing to see if Barcelona can fight with Real Madrid and Manchester
