Real Madrid Insist No Signings In January Despite El Clasico Disaster

Real Madrid had a forgettable weekend, losing 4-0 to FC Barcelona.

The devastating defeat also meant that Carlo Ancelotti’s side trailed the Blaugrana, who currently lead La Liga, by six points.

While there is still plenty of time left in the season, the result highlighted the weaknesses in Real Madrid’s injury-plagued team, emphasizing the need for reinforcements in January.

No signings.

However, according to AS, despite what happened on Saturday night, voices within the Real Madrid headquarters insist that no new signings will be made in January.

The Spanish capital giants have typically shunned mid-season transfers in recent years – Brahim Diaz being the last January arrival at the club back in 2019.

However, Dani Carvajal’s absence and a lack of cover in the center-back position are key worries, which were highlighted during the Clasico.

However, as previously reported, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is not convinced by the idea of bringing in reinforcements in the winter, owing to a lack of high-quality possibilities in the market.

As a result, despite the horrific defeat on Saturday, Real Madrid’s transfer plans for January remain unchanged, with no reinforcements expected.

It’s unclear whether this will change in the coming weeks. For now, however, the attention will be on tonight’s Ballon d’Or presentation, when Vinicius Jr. is likely to walk away with the big prize.
