After firing Erik ten Hag, Amorim is now United’s main target and the team is reportedly willing to compensate his replacement.
Amorim, a two-time Portuguese champion, has an £8.3 million release clause in his contract.
As INEOS chairman Sir Dave Brailsford met with the manager last week, Amorim was heard by members of the Manchester United leadership, who want to finalize the job as soon as possible.
Amorim was once connected to Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham and is regarded as one of the top up-and-coming managers in football.
The fact that Pep Guardiola is in the last year of his contract at Manchester City has also made him a possible candidate for the position.
But United’s deal with Amorim is a clear clue that Guardiola may extend his contract with City by another year, reports Talk Sports
Amorim, who was also rumored to be a summer transfer target for West Ham, began his coaching career in 2018 at Casa Pia in Portugal.
After joining Braga, he transferred to Sporting in 2020, where he won Liga Portgual the next year.
