Following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s devastating injury earlier this season, FC Barcelona has opted to sign a top goalkeeper in the summer as the long-term successor to their club captain.
Diogo Costa, the FC Porto and Portugal goalkeeper, has emerged as a prospective candidate for the role.
After all, the 25-year-old is one of Europe’s most gifted goalkeepers right now, and he could be ready to advance his career.

However, according to SPORT, Barcelona considers Diogo Costa’s signing ‘nearly impossible’ and has informed his agent, Jorge Mendes.
Costa is generating a lot of attention from other clubs, especially Premier League champion Manchester City.
Furthermore, according to the article, the Portuguese international already has bids on his table, and his €45 million price tag is non-negotiable, complicating matters for Barcelona.
As a result, La Liga leaders have confirmed to Mendes that any deal for the 25-year-old shot-stopper is currently out of the question.
However, it is not impossible that the superagent, who has strong contacts with Barcelona, will find a method to make the operation financially reasonable for the club.
Mendes met with Joan Laporta and Deco earlier this month to discuss Ansu Fati’s future, Lamine Yamal’s contract, and the Catalans’ interest in Costa.
It should be remembered that the Portuguese superagent gave Barcelona the chance to capture Costa for just €15 million in 2022.
While his stock has improved significantly since then, whether Mendes works out a scenario where the Blaugrana can land him for an affordable fee remains to be seen.
