Juventus players Douglas Luiz and Gleison Bremer have expressed their support for Real Madrid star, Vinicius Jr who was predicted to win the Ballon d’Or for weeks leading up to the event, by sending him messages and images.
“We all know who really deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. We are all with you, brother, we will do everything so that you can win this ‘Ballon d’Or’ one day. I love you,” Douglas Luiz wrote to his international teammate on an Instagram story after the awards ceremony in Paris.
He then clarified: “Nothing against the player Rodri, the opposite in fact, many congratulations!”
According to Football Italia, Bremer, another Brazilian international, also shared a photo of Vinicius Jr. on his Instagram story with the “no.1” emoji.
Since winning the Champions League final with Real Madrid earlier this year, he had been predicted to win the Ballon d’Or. But on Monday afternoon, rumors started to circulate that Manchester City ace, Rodri would take home the gong instead.

That turned out to be the case, as the Real Madrid delegation as a whole opted to stay away from Monday night’s awards presentation in Paris.
Among them were players Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Andriy Lunin, and several more, as well as club president Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti, who took home the first Coach of the Year award.
