Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly delighted to remain as Manchester United interim manager until a deal for Sporting head coach, Ruben Amorim to take over as the club’s next permanent manager is finalized.
With a 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round, Van Nistelrooy’s interim leadership got off to a great start. Following the match, he stated that he would also be open to continuing as a member of Amorim’s coaching team.
The 48-year-old returned to Old Trafford in the summer as one of Erik ten Hag’s new deputy managers. After his fellow Dutchman was fired on Monday, Van Nistelrooy was put in charge until a permanent manager is found.
According to Manchester Evening News, when asked if he will stay on until a permanent manager is in place, he said: “Of course – I came here as an assistant to help the club.
“Now in this role, I’m helping as long as needed. In the future in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future, that’s what I’m here for.”

Van Nistelrooy is willing to play a part in the new setup, although Amorim is expected to bring a number of coaches from Sporting with him. And the coaching system at Carrington will probably undergo another change.
“I’m here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change,” he said.
