Arsenal Handed Major Blow As Edu Set For Shock Exit

Arsenal sporting director, Edu Gaspar is reportedly set for a bombshell exit from the club.

Edu has been Mikel Arteta’s most important ally in assembling a team that can contend for the Premier League title.

The 2003–2004 Invincibles team included the former Arsenal midfielder, who is currently regarded as one of the best sports directors in global football.

The Brazilian rejoined the team as technical director in 2019 and worked with Arteta to turn the club back into a Premier League elite in addition to winning the FA Cup in 2020.

Edu, who was elevated to the position of their first sporting director in 2022, has been instrumental in helping them sign players like William Saliba, Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard who have grown to be vital components of Arteta’s squad.

The 46-year-old also let go of other players, including Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on substantial wages.

Despite the fact that there has been a lot of change at the Emirates in the last 12 months, according to the Daily Mail as reported by talkSPORT, it is still unknown why Edu is leaving.

Richard Garlick was appointed managing director after Vinai Venkatesham left as CEO in the summer.

It was recently revealed that James King would take Garlick’s role as director of football operations.
