Manuel Ugarte Warns Ruben Amorim Following Man United’s Draw With Chelsea

Manuel Ugarte has cautioned Ruben Amorim that he has a ‘lot of work to do’ before joining Manchester United. The 39-year-old will leave the José Alvalade Stadium for Old Trafford later this month after agreeing to succeed Erik ten Hag as head coach.

In order to complete his signing, the Red Devils agreed on a compensation package with Sporting CP, who are presently top of the Primeira Liga after a perfect start to the season. Amorim has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with United and will take control of his first Premier League game against Ipswich Town on November 24.

The Portuguese strategist, who is expected to recruit Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido to his backroom team, will use the forthcoming international break to settle in at Carrington. According to Ugarte, Amorim will face significant challenges in establishing his core concepts, vital ideals, and strategies.

After United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, the Uruguay international commented on the outcome. Ugarte captioned his Instagram image, “We gave it our all to get the three points, but unfortunately we couldn’t do it.” There is still a lot of work to do. We need to keep going.”

The Red Devils midfielder previously worked under Amorim at Sporting, appearing 85 times in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. Before joining Paris Saint-Germain, they won the Portuguese League Cup together.

“Then again, I’m willing to contribute in whatever capacity, so I’m prepared for the future. We will all be supporting him and assisting him in getting Manchester United to where we all want it to be, and I believe that spirit is the most crucial to have.
