Former Manchester United striker, Dimitar Berbatov has reportedly mentioned one Sporting Lisbon player that might follow Ruben Amorim to the club.
Although the 39-year-old was officially announced as United’s new manager last Friday, he won’t begin work until Monday, November 11.
Over the last four and a half years, the Portuguese has had a significant influence on Sporting, helping the team win two Primeira Liga championships and two domestic cups.
Amorim will take over a United squad that is having a terrible season thus far. The Red Devils are now 13th in the Premier League standings and have not yet won in the Europa League.
Over the next few years, the ex-Portugal international is anticipated to restructure United’s team. According to the Daily Mail, former United star Berbatov named one player he believes Amorim will attempt to get from Sporting.
“It’s interesting because this guy Viktor Gyokeres,” he said on Monday Night Football.
“He is scoring goals for fun right now. So I think there is a special connection with the coach so maybe we could see him in a United shirt.
“For what he is showing right now I think yes (I would like to see United sign him).
“Because our strikers at the moment are not doing and producing the goals like we see from Viktor Gyokeres, 16 in the league, which is embarrassing for the stature of a club like United.

“So this is a position that I would like to see improvement in.”
Since arriving at Lisbon, Gyokores has scored 63 goals and provided 19 assists in 66 matches for the Liga Portugal defending champions.
