Real Madrid legend, Karim Benzema has sent a warning to Kylian Mbappe stating that ‘they are going to kill him’ if he goes two or three games without scoring.
In addition to his position as a central striker, Mbappe has taken the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner’s number nine shirt at the Bernabeu after no one inherited it the previous season after Benzema left for Saudi Arabia.
Although Mbappe’s return of eight goals in 14 games in all competitions isn’t all that bad, since his high-profile free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, things haven’t exactly gone as planned.
After winning the Laliga and Champions League double last season, head coach Carlo Ancelotti is having trouble figuring out the optimum lineup for his team that incorporates Mbappe and compensates for the midfield control lost due to Toni Kroos’ unexpected retirement.
In El Clasico, Mbappe was especially off-key, getting caught offside eight times in a 0–4 loss that gave the Catalans a six-point lead, now nine, at the top of the La Liga standings.
According to Forbes, in Benzema’s view, the “problem” for him is that Mbappe “is not a center forward”.
“Every time he plays with France as a ‘9’ it is not good, it is not his position,” the 36-year-old added.

“My situation in the first year and Kylian’s is different,” he stressed. “I was 21 years old and he is 25 right now. He knows that there is a lot of pressure at Real Madrid.”
