Barcelona head Coach, Hansi Flick has reportedly stated that the club have informed Spain that Lamine Yamal should be excused from international duty due to injury.
The 17-year-old did not play in Sunday’s La Liga match against Real Sociedad, where Sheraldo Becker’s goal gave Barcelona an unexpected 1-0 loss.
The Catalan club revealed on Sunday that Yamal sustained a “severe contusion” after playing the entire ninety minutes of the team’s 5-2 Champions League victory over Red Star Belgrade in the middle of the week.
“Lamine Yamal sustained a severe contusion on Wednesday against Red Star,” a medical update read. “He has undergone treatment but the discomfort isn’t gone yet completely. His recovery will determine his availability.”
According to Sports Mole, following Fermin Lopez’s unsuccessful attempt to fill in for Yamal on the right side during Sunday’s loss, Flick acknowledged that he was unsure if the latter would be ready to return following the international break.

“We will miss now Lamine Yamal… I don’t know if he will return after the international break. We’ve asked for him not to travel to national team,” Flick told the media.
Yamal has been called up to the Spain squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Denmark (November 15) and Switzerland (November 18) later this month. But, Barcelona want the youngster to leave the Roja camp.
