Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has been praised following his gesture for helping a passenger, who collapsed during a flight to Lisbon on Monday.
In Sunday’s 3-0 Premier League victory against Leicester City, Fernandes scored one goal and assisted on two others. The 30-year-old was on his way to Portugal for their Nations League games against Poland and Croatia.
According to The ESPN, after Fernandes had gone to the restroom in the back of the aircraft, Susanna Lawson, a passenger on the flight, told UK outlet Business Cloud that she heard a call for help.
“Bruno was holding a gentleman who looked like he was passing out. I don’t know if he lost consciousness or not,” Lawson said.
“There was a spare seat at the back which Bruno helped the gentleman to sit down on. He stayed at the back with them and made sure he was OK.
“It might have been about five to 10 minutes and then he made his way back to his seat but again very unassuming. He wasn’t looking for any attention himself.”
Despite his fame and prominence, a United insider claimed it was not surprising that Fernandes helped his fellow traveler, pointing to the star’s compassion and humility.

“That’s typical of Bruno,” said the United insider. “He’s not one to look away when such a situation happens, he’s one to show leadership and care, and to help in any way he can.”
Portugal will host Poland on Friday and then travel to Croatia on November 18.
