Barcelona Pursuit Of Defender Faces Setback As Target Postpones Decision Until 2025

Barcelona Pursuit Of Defender Faces Setback As Target Postpones Decision Until 2025

Barcelona have reportedly suffered what seems to be a setback in their bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender, Jonathan Tah next summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo as reported by Barca Universal, the defender has stated that he will not make any major choices regarding his future until the start of 2025. As a result, Barcelona will have to wait to find out if they have a chance to sign him.

Notably, the Catalan side made a bid to sign Tah during the most recent summer transfer window. In the closing days of the market, they made an offer to Leverkusen, but the German team turned it down because they thought it was too low.

Barca decided not to increase their offer after learning about Tah’s contract status. They are aiming to sign the player on a free transfer because he will be a free agent in June. Unless everything changes, Tah is anticipated to depart Leverkusen next summer if he follows his plan.

Since the beginning of the season, Tah’s stock has increased, and he is currently being pursued by a number of elite clubs. He is still wanted by Bayern Munich, who made an attempt to sign him last summer.

Real Madrid, however, is an even greater rival of Barcelona. Los Blancos now only have Antonio Rudiger as their natural centre-back due to Eder Militao’s long-term injury and David Alaba’s recuperation.
