Scotland manager Steve Clarke has emphasized the need of protecting Ben Doak, despite his outstanding performance on international service.
The Liverpool winger, who is now on loan at Middlesbrough, helped the Tartan Army defeat Croatia 1-0 in the Nations League last week. Doak was voted man of the match after outplaying Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol and contributing significantly to John McGinn’s late winner. Reported By Liverpool Word.
Scotland prepares to face Poland tonight, hoping to avoid coming last in their group and being relegated to League B. Many fans will be looking forward to seeing Doak fly down the flank in Warsaw. However, given that Doak is only 19, Clarke has stated that the teenager will have to be evaluated before a decision is made on whether he retains his starting berth.

“He’s obviously feeling good about himself, but he’s in excellent company, and we’ll keep him grounded. He is a huge talent both now and in the future.
“That is why, as I sit here, I have not named the team. You must check on all of the boys who finished the game the night before to ensure that they wake up fit, fresh, and ready to go the next morning. That is something else you should consider.
Doak joined Liverpool from Celtic in the summer of 2022, aged 16. He was quickly promoted to the first-team squad, making his debut in a Carabao Cup victory over Derby County before signing his first professional contract days later, when he turned 17.
