Arsenal’s attempt to get Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid was one of their most recent transfer coups, and they are now considering a similar possibility.
The Gunners are reportedly interested in Madrid youngster Arda Guler, who is now struggling for playing time at the Bernabeu, just like Odegaard struggled as a teenager.
According to Sport, Arsenal is looking at Guler, with the report citing similarities to the Odegaard transaction, which proved to be a huge success for the north London powerhouse.
Although the Norwegian international struggled at Real, he is now a top player for Arsenal, having been named club captain by Mikel Arteta a few years ago.
Guler is another player with undeniable talent who is simply struggling with the level and depth of competition on this Los Blancos group.

Could Arsenal make Arda Guler the next Martin Odegaard?
Arsenal fans are surely aware that their team needs a little more spark in attack, and Guler could be the player to offer it.
Even though he hasn’t had much time on the field, the 19-year-old has shown signs of genuine talent, and a coach like Arteta might do wonders with him.
AFC took a chance on Odegaard when they signed him, and Guler might be a similar gamble – there’s no guarantee he’ll recover from this poor spell.
Odegaard did, however, which may offer Arsenal hope here, since Guler is unlikely to lose all of his innate quality that he demonstrated at former club Fenerbahce.
Madrid was definitely convinced enough to recruit him at the time, and he may still be able to make it in Spain, but if not, he could do a lot worse than consider the Emirates Stadium as a viable location for him to relaunch his career.
