Pundit Advises Amorim To Change One Man United Player’s Position

Robbie Savage has claimed that the new Manchester United style of play introduced by Ruben Amorim did not suit Alejandro Garnacho.

As was to be expected the Red Devils lined up in the 3-4-3 system that had given Amorim great success at Sporting Lisbon. Many members of the squad are unfamiliar with the unique system, and if they want to succeed, they will need to adjust to new expectations.

Alongside Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho played inside forward, mostly playing as a 10 with Marcus Rashford at the head of the line. The flanks have seen the Argentine’s best performances in a red shirt thus far.

The two wing-backs in Amorim’s starting lineup—Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot—provide the system’s breadth.

However, according to The Mirror, Savage thinks that in order for Garnacho to play at his best, he must fill one of those roles.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I don’t think Ruben Amorim’s system suits Alejandro Garnacho. He was used as one of the number tens. I think he is better as one of the wing-backs.”

However, Amorim was able to spot new things after witnessing his new team in action for the first time.

He said on Garnacho: “You start discovering things that you didn’t know like Garna [Alejandro Garnacho], can hold the ball between lines, you can understand that by seeing the games because he’s always open so you try to find these things.”
