With the official start of the Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United, it appears that the Old Trafford management will not hesitate to support their new head coach.
The former Portugal international has been formally at the helm of affairs of the Red Devils for just over two weeks. On Sunday afternoon, he managed his first Premier League match against Ipswich Town.
As the 39-year-old attempts to move his newly-inherited team up the table in the upcoming weeks, Amorim will be eager to see his squad bolstered throughout the upcoming transfer windows.
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils are “discussing and considering” a move for Ederson, a midfielder for Atalanta valued at £50 million.

The Brazilian star was crucial to the Serie A side’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final last season. Over the past 12 months, the 24-year-old has been linked to a number of Premier League teams.
Newcastle United are believed to be quite interested in the midfield player. Plettenberg, however, asserted that Man United might try to beat the Magpies to the signing during the January transfer window.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Manchester United are discussing and considering Ederson, a player who is highly valued internally.
“The club is looking for reinforcement in his position, possibly as early as the winter transfer window. The 25-year-old central midfielder has a contract with Atalanta Bergamo until 2027. One to watch.”
Ederson has featured in 18 matches for Atalanta across all competitions this season, contributing 2 goals and an assist as the Bergamo-based club look to win the Scudetto for the first time.
