The singer, who is a big supporter of Ipswich Town, was at Portman Road as his club drew 1-1 with the Reds in Amorim’s debut game as manager.

Omari Hutchinson equalized just before halftime, although Marcus Rashford had already scored the first goal 81 seconds earlier.

Amorim was grateful to goalkeeper Andre Onana for making many crucial saves to save loss in his debut game, but the draw against Ipswich was a dismal start to life under the manager.

The new Reds manager was clearly irritated when Sheeran stopped his post-match interview with Sky Sports by approaching former Liverpool player and commentator Jamie Redknapp in the middle of the conversation.

Sheeran also received internet criticism, reports Manchester Evening.

“Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t actually realise he was being interviewed at the time, was popping to say hi and bye to Jamie Redknapp” he said on his Instagram stories.

After the game, Amorim acknowledged that United would have to “struggle” to learn his preferred 3-4-3 formation.

“So this is the first point, when we make a new structure and you are so clear on that, they need time to have some fluidity in the game and I felt that.

But it’s two games and I felt they did okay.”
