Gary Neville has detailed some of the “red flags” he noticed when watching Ruben Amorim’s first game in command of Manchester United.
The Red Devils’ new era began in uninspiring fashion on Sunday, with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich as Amorim made his Premier League debut.
Marcus Rashford handed United the lead after turning in Amad Diallo’s cross in the first two minutes, but Omari Hutchinson’s deflected strike equalized for the hosts just before halftime.
United then had goalkeeper Andre Onana to thank for a succession of outstanding saves as they left with a point to cap an otherwise disappointing season.

Of course, these are early days in the Amorim era, and judgment may be deferred till later.
The 39-year-old conceded his team were “confused” at times while adjusting to his preferred 3-4-3 style, suggesting United will “suffer” in the following weeks and months as he sought to establish his control over the group.
Nonetheless, former United captain Roy Keane described his former club as a “average Premier League team”.
When asked about some of the “red flags” he saw in the performance at Ipswich, the United icon told Sky Sports: “The red flags that were there yesterday would have been there probably for the past several months and the last season and a half of a team who are extremely tough to genuinely enjoy watching.
“And I say that with respect because I genuinely do believe what Ruben Amorim said at the end of the game.
Neville added: “That’s a constant and has been a constant, not just obviously on Sunday, but a constant for the last year and a half, two years, three years.
