Man Utd ‘Shortlist’ Deadly Bundesliga Striker, With Top Liverpool Target Also Being Considered

Manchester United are looking for a new centre-forward, with sources indicating that Bayer Leverkusen’s, Victor Boniface and Liverpool’s Omar Marmoush are also on their radar.

Ruben Amorim has been advised that there will be little money to spend in January as Manchester United fight profit and sustainability issues. This means that the Portuguese must work to develop existing strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee during the 2024-25 season.

However, United’s executives intend to make a significant investment in the summer of 2025 to sign a dangerous new goalscorer.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, United have included Leverkusen’s Boniface on their’shortlist’.

United are ‘actively scouting the striker market’, and Boniface has piqued their interest with his outstanding performances in Germany.

The Nigerian will be ‘expensive’ to sign in January, however, since Leverkusen does not want to weaken their team in the middle of the season, therefore United would most likely have to wait until the summer to begin transfer talks.

Boniface is not the only Bundesliga striker United is considering. According to Sky Germany, United sporting director Dan Ashworth is also closely monitoring Omar Marmoush’s position at Eintracht Frankfurt.

While Boniface’s price is unknown, United knows how much they will have to spend for Marmoush. Frankfurt wants €60 million (£50.1 million or $62.9 million) for its talisman.

Once again, this means that United will have to wait until the end of the campaign to make a proper bid.

United’s interest in Marmoush sets up a possible clash with Liverpool. Arne Slot’s team has identified Marmoush as a possible alternative for Mo Salah at Anfield.
