Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario claims he played an hour against Manchester City with a fractured right ankle that required surgery.
Vicario made several saves and kept a clean sheet in Tottenham’s spectacular 4-0 triumph at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, despite needing treatment on his ankle in the first half. He played the entire game.
“Sometimes football gives you highs, and sometimes it challenges you in unexpected ways,” the Italian international said on Instagram late Monday. “I played 60 minutes at the Etihad with a shattered bone in my ankle, giving the squad everything I had. Unfortunately, there was no getting around this. “I needed surgery.”

Tottenham revealed the 28-year-old Vicario underwent surgery on Monday.
Fraser Forster, 36, is expected to join the team as cover. Reported By Daily Mail.
“The operation went well, and from tomorrow I’ll be working hard to come back stronger, fitter, and ready to give my all for you again,” said Vicario.
Vicario’s injury brought back memories of the late Manchester City goalkeeper Bert Trautmann, who played till the end of the FA Cup final in 1956 despite fracturing his neck in the 73rd minute.
