His lackluster United team drew 1-1 with relegation-threatened Ipswich Town in his first game as manager, giving the former Sporting Lisbon manager, a taste of the difficult task ahead.
Even though it has been reported that Amorim would have a less budget in January because of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, it appears that he is still eager to sign Ait-Nouri.
Despite Wolves’ challenging start to the season, the 23-year-old Algerian international has been one of the team’s few bright spots, drawing interest from top-flight competitors.
Ait-Nouri is Amorim’s preferred pick to bolster United’s left-back position, which has been deficient owing to injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw.
With three goals and two assists this season, Ait-Nouri is amenable to leaving Molineux in 2025, reports Daily Star.
The adventurous wing-back, who has made more than 100 games in the top division since joining Wolves, has previously attracted attention from Liverpool.
He has a deal with the team through the summer of 2026.
Ait-Nouri is not the only Premier League player on United’s radar as the winter transfer window draws near, even if it is uncertain if either Wolves or United would be open to negotiating a mid-season trade for him.
