Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly ready to spend £50 million on Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi in the next transfer window.
Last summer, Reds manager Arne Slot made the Spanish player his top target. At the time, the Anfield giants were willing to activate his €60 million (£50 million) release clause, but a deal ultimately fell through.
Despite being given permission to quit the La Liga side, the 25-year-old chose to remain with the team. His future is still up in the air, and according to Caught Offside, Sociedad are open to hearing bids this winter.
Although the price is probably closer to £60 million. According to Football Talk, Liverpool and Arsenal are willing to spend £50 million for the defensive midfield player. According to the update, Zubimendi’s release clause might not go into effect until the summer.

Last summer, Liverpool were determined to sign Zubimendi, but the midfielder changed his mind after first considering the move. Ryan Gravenberch stepping up has turned out to be a gift in disguise for them.
Although the Netherlands star wasn’t at his best during his first season, he has excelled since being deployed in the no.6 position under Slot.
The 22-year-old has been a constant presence in the middle of the park and has been the star in practically every game.
Arsenal would undoubtedly try to sign Zubimendi if he ultimately decides to leave Basque Country.
Given that Thomas Partey is expected to depart on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer, he might be the ideal replacement for Mikel Arteta’s side.
