After a thrilling match against Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League, Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim said Rasmus Hojlund was exhausted, raising alarms about the fitness issues afflicting his new team.
After Erik ten Hag left, the new manager at Old Trafford is determined to return the Red Devils back to their best. The game showed that Amorim has his work cut out for him. Even though they managed to win 3-2 on Thursday night and maintain their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
What Did Amorim Say About His Team?
The Red Devils boss opened up post-match, admitting to TNT Sports: “We had more chances [than against Ipswich] and were more dangerous. But we will have to change players,” and conceded, “I felt that Rasmus was dead. Some [players] were really, really tired.

“We made four substitutions because of the fitness of the players, not because of what was best for the game. We are in that moment, we need the squad all together and fit.”
It was a wild ride at Old Trafford as United trailed for a tense twenty-two minutes before roaring back with two goals from Hojlund. According to the Daily Star, Amorim highlighted how fitness might make or break his demanding setup while also pointing out improvements from their most recent trip.
After Alejandro Garnacho’s quick opener, United were breached in the first half and fell behind to Hakon Evjen and Philip Zinckernagel’s strikes before Hojlund’s brace saved them.
Hojlund restored parity just before halftime, but the Reds didn’t really settle into a rhythm until Amorim reorganized the lineup and substituted Tyrell Malacia for Diogo Dalot.
Even though Ruben Amorim’s term is only getting started, he is already feeling the heat as he prepares for a match against Everton on Sunday. And then, a thrilling journey to Arsenal follows.
