Legendary German footballer, Lothar Matthaus has urged Barcelona to sign Stuttgart midfielder, Angelo Stiller.
Barcelona do not appear to need a holding midfielder for the first time in a long time. However, Deco, who is the Sporting Director of the club may give it another look next summer based on Marc Bernal’s recovery from injury and Frenkie de Jong’s contract status.
According to Football Espana, Matthaus believes Stiller, who possesses the style of play the Blaugrana likes would be the ideal fit in the defensive midfield position.
“Stiller would be good for Barca because of his style of play. I have faith in him and if Barcelona were to sell, his signing would be possible and sensible,” as quoted by Sport.

Stiller has the potential to establish himself in the Catalan city, according to the German World Cup winner, who is well-versed in the midfield position.
“Stiller could put his stamp on Barcelona and organise the midfield there,” Matthaus says.
When Flick arrived this summer, the 23-year-old was linked with the Catalan club as someone whose work he was familiar with.
Stiller, who has a contract through 2027 and is unlikely to be cheap, was an important member of the Stuttgart side that fared admirably at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this season.
Following the Euros, Stiller has made his debut for the German national team, and if he can improve, he should be a mainstay in the lineup.
