After Erik ten Hag was fired by Ineos, Ruud Van Nistelrooy was appointed to the interim role.

With two wins against Leicester City and one over PAOK, the former Dutch striker calmed the ship at United.

Van Nistelrooy was released from his contract with the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, although he was quickly taken on by Leicester following the dismissal of Steve Cooper. “It was a good period, short and intense,” Van Nistelrooy told reporters at his first news conference as the Foxes’ manager.

“I was happy to help steady the ship. They’re now on a run of good results. I enjoyed being responsible and getting a connection with the team. That felt great to do. I’m now in a position to do it again.”

Van Nistelrooy, who led PSV Eindhoven before joining United’s backroom staff, attributes his Premier League spot to the Reds.

On Tuesday, Van Nistelrooy will coach Leicester for the first time when they play West Ham.
