Manchester United are reportedly ready to step up their interest in the signing of RB Leipzig defender, David Raum.
After Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw suffered severe long-term injuries, it is believed that Ruben Amorim has identified the left side of his defense as a crucial area to bolster.
According to Sky Germany as cited by The Metro, United and Raum had “concrete discussions” during the summer transfer window and that the Premier League team are still keeping an eye on the Germany international’s circumstances at Leipzig.
According to the report, Raum is thought to be a “very good fit” in Amorim’s system as a left-sided wing-back.

However, because Raum’s current deal expires in June 2027, Leipzig are in a strong negotiation position.
In July 2022, the 26-year-old, who has 26 caps for Germany, moved from Hoffenheim to RB Leipzig for €30 million (£25 million).
Raum made 40 appearances for RB Leipzig last season, tallying three goals and 13 assists.
According to reports, Bayern Munich have also expressed interest in Raum since they are looking to replace Alphonso Davies, a left-sided defender who has been linked to Real Madrid and will be available on a free transfer next summer.
When asked about his future last month Raum said: “If I were to be honest, I would say I have no idea what will happen after this season but I have a contract here in Leipzig and everything is great.’
Asked if RB Leipzig had received an offer for him, Raum said: “No, not at all. There’s no discussion, nothing.
“But I have also said, for example, that the Premier League might be a dream and a big goal at some point.”
