It is Enzo Maresca’s prediction that Chelsea would “dominate” the Premier League during the next five to ten years.

The 44-year-old Italian has consistently downplayed his team’s prospects of winning the championship this year, even though Chelsea is tied for third place in the standings with Mikel Arteta’s rivals Arsenal on both goal differential and points.
Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 3-0 at home on Sunday, moving up to overtake faltering champions Manchester City, although they are still nine points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Maresca, however, has downplayed Chelsea’s ability to contend for championships in spite of the club’s repeated transfer windows with world-record prices under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Despite significant sales, Chelsea has spent over £1.5 billion since the Clearlake acquisition, mostly on younger players with longer contracts.
With an average age of little over 23, Maresca thinks his team’s inexperience is the main reason they won’t win this season, reports BBC Sports.
Before Wednesday’s Premier League game against Southampton, Maresca continued: “When I first met the owners and sporting directors, I told them that, given their age and the caliber of their team, I believe Chelsea will be one of the teams that will rule English football in the next five to ten years.
“When I initially met the club, I told them this. For the next five or ten years, you can dominate English football due to the age and squad, regardless of the manager, and I still believe this.
