Roy Keane Points Finger At Liverpool Star As He Fumes Over Newcastle Incident

Roy Keane blamed Alexis MacAllister for Alexander Isak’s opening goal for Newcastle against Liverpool.

Mac Allister began in midfield for the Reds at St James’ Park, alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones. But barely 20 minutes in, the Argentine received a yellow card for a late challenge on Fabian Schar.

He will be suspended for the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday. However, Keane believes it had a more immediate negative influence on Arne Slot’s side in Tyneside.

Isak scored Newcastle’s first goal 15 minutes after Mac Allister was booked. The goal came from Magpies captain Bruno Guimaraes, who got past Mac Allister before playing in the Swedish international. Reported By Liverpool World.

Isak held off Virgil van Dijk before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the upper right corner of the goal. But Keane insisted Mac Allister was to blame, accusing the midfielder of running out of position to close down Guimaraes.

He told The Overlap’s Watchalong, “Look at Mac Allister.” Look at MacAllister. Look at MacAllister. Look at MacAllister. Look at Mac Allister here. He cannot. Great strike. What power. “If you have a yellow card and can’t run, don’t go in there.”

Instead, Chelsea icon Pat Nevin praised Isak for his contribution to the game’s opening goal. He singled highlighted the striker for his efforts throughout the first half, as Newcastle maintained their lead until halftime.
